British actress Juno Temple, known for her stellar performances, recently shared exciting news about the highly anticipated Sony Pictures/Marvel production, Venom 3. During a Ted Lasso event, Temple revealed that the film is on track for an October 2024 release. She expressed her thrill and mentioned that filming would commence very soon.

Steady Progress in Production for Venom 3

Following its approval in April 2022, Venom 3 has been steadily advancing in production. The film marks the return of Eddie Brock (played by Tom Hardy) and his symbiote partner to the silver screen. Kelly Marcel, who penned the scripts for the previous two installments in the franchise, leads the project as the director. Marcel’s creative vision is expected to drive this latest thrilling adventure. Marvel alum Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his role as Mordo in the Doctor Strange films, recently joined the cast, adding to the excitement surrounding the film.

Tom Hardy, who portrays Eddie Brock, has been actively preparing for his role. However, the pre-production process experienced a setback due to an ongoing writers’ strike, which has affected numerous major projects across the United States. This halt in pre-production work has temporarily delayed the progress of Venom 3, along with other projects in the industry.

Venom’s On-Screen History

Venom’s journey on the silver screen has been a mixed bag. The character first appeared in the 2007 film Spider-Man 3, directed by Sam Raimi. Actor Topher Grace portrayed Venom, but the reception was mixed, with some fans feeling that the portrayal didn’t capture the essence of the character as depicted in the comics.

In 2018, Venom received a standalone film of the same name, directed by Ruben Fleischer. Tom Hardy starred as Eddie Brock, providing a more faithful depiction of Venom’s appearance and personality. The film explored the character’s origin story and, despite mixed reviews from critics, proved to be a box office success, laying the foundation for future installments.

In 2021, the highly anticipated sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage hit theaters, with Andy Serkis taking over the director’s chair. The film delved deeper into the dynamic between Venom and Carnage, another iconic villain from the Spider-Man comics, portrayed by Woody Harrelson. The sequel expanded the Venom cinematic universe and paved the way for interconnected stories. It even teased Eddie and Venom crossing paths with the Marvel Cinematic Universe briefly in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

With Juno Temple’s announcement and the talented team involved, Venom 3 is poised to be another thrilling addition to the franchise. Fans eagerly await the film’s release in October 2024, hoping to witness Eddie Brock and Venom’s next adventure on the big screen.
